| Location: Pittsfield,MA,USA Member Since: Jan 08, 2009 Gender: Female Goal Type: Recover From Injury Running Accomplishments: I ran Varsity Track and Field in high school and was primarily a sprinter (100m, 200m). I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it! Short-Term Running Goals: I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.
Long-Term Running Goals: To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.
Personal: I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride". Terrible, horrible, hectic day at work. Finally got on the elliptical after work and did the "Fat Burn" workout of solid intervals of resistance levels 11 and 9. Did a cool down at resistance level 11, then finally 10. Stretched afterward and drove home to make dinner for Benn. | Add Comment |
| | Gym hours are shortened for the summer and close at 8:30pm on the weekdays. I think that stinks, but it is even worse on the weekends - Sat at 5:30. and Sun at 4:30pm. Yuck. Anyways, I went to the gym tonight while Benn went to the high school track. I did the elliptical on "Fat Burner" mode with plateaued intervals at resistance levels 11 and 12. Then switched over to the treadmill for a 10 minute cooldown. Started out slow at 4.9mph and graduated up to 6.0mph. Stretched my legs and went to the weight room to do some ab and arm exercises. | Add Comment |
| | More travel again this weekend... really trying to get a break to exercise!! Feeling bad about myself and wanting to do more... but with zero time to make it happen. Ugghh. I cannot wait until this crazy travel-everywhere for family/friends obligations stuff is over. I need some "me time" to just be able to focus on ME. | Add Comment |
