Running Accomplishments:

I ran Varsity Track and Field in high school and was primarily a sprinter (100m, 200m). I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it!

Short-Term Running Goals:

I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.

Long-Term Running Goals:

To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.

Personal:

I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride".

Donnnn't want to work today. Is it Spring Break yet? Woke up and changed right into my workout clothes. Stretched and did intervals of resistance 5 and 6 on the elliptical for 1.5 miles. Then switched over to the treadmill for 1.9 miles at 6mph and 2% incline. Stretched and did lots of free weight lifting. Stretched and then had eggplant for breakfast! YUMMM..

Felt kinda crumby today. I think I got a sinus headache from the weather. Took some medicine and about an hour or so later, got ready for a run. Stretched and ran 6 miles at 2% incline and 6.2-6.5mph. Did a few intervals (only 3 or 4) at 7mph for 1 minute at a time. Then did a cool down for 0.2 miles at 4.1mph. Stretched. Did leg lifts(25 or so each), 220 or so crunches (11 different kinds, 20-ish each), 2 sets of squats (close-legged and open-legged, 25 each) and lifted a bunch of free weights (many different styles, but didn't keep count). Stretched arms and legs again.

My mom came in and woke me up this morning and told me to get on the treadmill first thing! I was surprised at first but I am glad she did this. I was kind of complaining to her last night about all the things I have to do for tomorrow (now today) etc. etc.. and she knows how upset I feel when I don't find a chance to exercise. So, I got into my workout clothes before the pillow creases had a chance to fade from my face. Stretched and ran 6.2 miles at 6.0-6.2mph and 2% incline. Then did a cool down of 0.2 miles at 4.0mph. Stretched well and now I've got to continue my busy, busy day!
