Recover From Injury

Running Accomplishments:

I ran Varsity Track and Field in high school and was primarily a sprinter (100m, 200m). I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it!

Short-Term Running Goals:

I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.

Long-Term Running Goals:

 To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.

Personal:

I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride".

Bummed about last week's miles. I have had a very busy week FULL of driving and traveling. Stayed at lots of people's houses and did not fit in the time for jogs or workouts. Still had a lot of fun doing other things, though. I spent almost 6 hours at the Boston Museum of Science and went to a great Halloween costume party. I got to see friends I hadn't seen in a long time. :)

Finally my first morning home and went for a 5 mile run on the treadmill at 6.2-6.3mph and 2% incline. I did stretching at 10 minutes in and then did cool down stretches also. Finished with leg lifts and would like to do squats, lunges, and crunches tonight. Maybe weight lifting too if I feel very motivated haha.

Ran 5.3 miles on the treadmill tonight at 6.2-6.5mph with 2% incline. Stretched at 15 minutes into the run and then afterward. Made a date with my mom to watch a movie at 9:45 woot!

Today I did a 40 minute Power90 Cardio Sweat 3-4 workout. I began with stretching warm up and finished with cool down stretching. Then did a few sets of lunges, squats, and leg lifts. Stretched quickly again and did 300 crunches (10 different sets of 30). Stretched again and finished just in time to get a call from my sister in California :)
