Recover From Injury

Running Accomplishments:

I ran Varsity Track and Field in high school and was primarily a sprinter (100m, 200m). I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it!

Short-Term Running Goals:

I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.

Long-Term Running Goals:

 To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.

Personal:

I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride".

Went for a run on the treadmill today for 3.5 miles at 6.2mph. Then did a cool down of 0.5 miles at 4.9mph. (All at 2% incline). I made sure to do a warm-up stretch at a little over a mile in and then stretched after the run. I also rearranged my basement and cleaned out the pantry! woohoo

Such a beautiful day, I decided to go for a bike ride on the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail. I set my new bike rack on my car and supplied myself with sunscreen, sunglasses, water, and bug spray. Noticed that my tires were very low on air, but I really had the feeling like I needed to go anway. So I did. I biked a 10 mile round trip from Lanesboro to Cheshire and back. It was lovely and I passed a lot of happy people with their children, other family members, friends, or dogs. Even though I was enjoying the time, I did miss Benn a lot. This was my first time biking alone in years and years and years. But he has studet teaching and school and work so I can't see him until he gets his work done :( I feel bad that he is so busy, and I'm sad that I have a lot going on, too, and can't see each other more. I hope that can change soon after this horrible semester is over.

Went on trip to Northampton, MA with a best friend and roomate in college that I hadn't seen in quite a while. We walked and walked and walked the streets, peeked in shops, and had tons of fun!
