Running Accomplishments:

I ran Varsity Track and Field in high school and was primarily a sprinter (100m, 200m). I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it!

Short-Term Running Goals:

I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.

Long-Term Running Goals:

To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.

Personal:

I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride".

Woke up this morning and went right down to the treadmill. I planned on running after I got out of work at 9 last night, but the half hour commute, tiredness, and hunger kicked in when I was about 15 minutes from home. LOL my body knows when I am nearing home. I still planned on going, but to my surprise both my sister and mom were there! They usually get out of work at 10pm and 12am, so I really wanted to see them (because I rarely get to see them during the day). Also, my sister had a new Netflix tv series on dvd that we could watch together. So we all snuggled up on the couches and watched the first episode and realized we couldn't watch any of the next 3 on the disk. Our dvd remote is long gone & lost forever, so we had no way of clicking the little arrow over on the screen. Darn!! After my sister fiddled with the tv remote and instructions on how to use it for dvds... we gave up.

Anywho... back to today!

I stretched and ran 3.1 miles at 6.0-6.2mph at 2% incline. Then I alternated the remaining mile between 6mph, 5mph, 4.2mph, and 4mph. Finished up with leg lifts, a few squats, stretches, and free weight lifting. Afterward I hauled tons of wood stacked on one end of my driveway to the other. We are supposed to get lots of rain, etc. this week and the wood would have gotten all drenched and frozen. After all of that, I picked up branches from my backyard (that had blown off in the wind storm last week) and added it to the bonfire pile. Finally, I shoveled off our trampolin ethat was bowing from the huge thick, heavy layer of ice and snow covering it. That was a mini workout in and of itself because the ice was so thick it was nearly unbudgeable. I had to hack away at it and then heave it to the side and over the edge of he trampoline. Wheph!!

Now- time for work! blaaahhh :(
