Running Accomplishments:

I ran Varsity Track and Field in high school and was primarily a sprinter (100m, 200m). I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it!

Short-Term Running Goals:

I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.

Long-Term Running Goals:

To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.

Personal:

I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride".

Benn drove to my house after school today and we got ready to go for a jog. I looked up trails in Great Barrington and found one called the Housatonic River Walk. I thought it sounded nice so we decided to go! On our travels a baby fox, a black & orange cat, a chipmunk, and a bunch of birds crossed our path (much to Benn's dislike because of his recent biking accident). On our way through Lenox and Stockbridge, we noticed whiteness all along the sides of the roads and on people's lawns. I said I think it is SNOW and Benn said NO WAY, it must be pollen. Finally, I told him to pull over to really check it out. It was crazy hail piles everywhere about half a foot deep!!!!! We were stunned and Benn took a few pictures with his cell phone. When we got to Great Barrington, we found the entrance to the River Walk, stretched, and read the sign. Under 'Prohibited,' it listed the usual biking, skateboarding, yada yada and... RUNNING! Whaaat? Well, we said that we were okay because we would "jog" (hehehe) only to find out that the entire trail was maybe a half mile long!!! Urg! So... we just kept running through back roads and main streets (which was actually quite fun) and looped back around to our car to stretch. Arrived Back home and made some wheat pasta, green beans, corn, and salad with apples and beans for dinner. Excellent!
