Running Accomplishments:

I ran Varsity Track and Field in high school and was primarily a sprinter (100m, 200m). I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it!

Short-Term Running Goals:

I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.

Long-Term Running Goals:

To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.

Personal:

I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride".

Benn and I started a GINORMOUS bonfire in my backyard on Saturday morning around 10am. We lugged armfulls upon armfulls of sticks and branches from the back of my yard up to the fire to burn. We spent the morning doing this but took a break around noon for some lunch. Then spent HOURS more until we had cleared the area of brush that we wanted to clear. I know we must have burned a ton of calories!! And, it was a lot of fun!

I LOVE a nice campfire and bonfire...did you know you were contributing to global warming though? :-)

Yes, but I figured I was one step ahead because I had never done my own bonfire before. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to have people come work at hauling away all the brush and branches from my yard. So, we did the best we could in the situation. We got a fire permit from the fire department and didn't use anything (like gasoline) to start the fire besides a match. Best of all, we enjoyed the fire.

We are using our excess flat, thin wood scraps from the cords we used in the winter (because we have one woodstove to heat the house in the winter-no oil heat) to spread out and make a small path to the park directly behind my backyard.

:)

Awesome Answer!! We used to live at Snoqualmie pass here in Washington and heated most of the house with a very efficient woodstove. I miss the heat that baby put out.

Wow, Washington? I bet it is gorgeous there. Someday I would like to take a trip out there to WA and Oregon. Besides what I hear about the rain, it sounds perfect :)
