Running Accomplishments:

I ran Varsity Track and Field in high school and was primarily a sprinter (100m, 200m). I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it!

Short-Term Running Goals:

I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.

Long-Term Running Goals:

To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.

Personal:

I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride".

Got a little exercise mowing the front lawn with the push lawnmower. Went to do the big backyard but then I went to restart the mower, I heard a big pop and a red spark flew from near the front right wheel. Was scared I might blow up but tried to start it again. No good. Looks like it is broken for now. Same with the clothes washer. Did laundry one day last week and I went to take my clothes out and the water was still inside! So I ran it again and the water drained a little more but there was still some in the bottom. It took me a long time to ring out my clothes and put them on the clotheslines. Even then there was still enough water in them to leave puddles all over the floor. So I have been washing my clothes by hand and bringing them to my dad's house to wash. No matter how hard I try, it seems like everything I touch turns bad.

Stretched and went for a run on the treadmill. Did 3.2 miles at 6.2mph and 2% incline. Then slowed to fast walking for 2.3mph at 4.1mph and 2% incline with 2lb free-weights. Sped back up for a 0.5 mile run at 6.2mph and 2% incline with 2lb free-weights. Did a cool down for 1.12 miles at 4.1mph and 2% incline with 2lb free-weights.  Got off the treadmill and did stretching and free-weight lifting routine. Finished with leg lifts, squats, lunges, and more stretching.

Woot! Little power lifter and workout queen! Sorry about the stuff breaking :(. Maybe the Momma Grifff can try her hands at fixing them. For some reason she's like you. Really hands on oriented and a regular Mrs. Fix it. But by the weekend you might already have it fixed. Are you getting psyched for the sale? What else do we still need?

As my Mom used to say "If you didn't have bad luck, you would have no luck at all". Hang in there!

We only appreciate the good things all the more when we experience a little difficulty.

Just think what people did before lawn mowers and washing machines.

Remember this quote-

“I cried because I had no shoes, then I met a man who had no feet."
