Running Accomplishments:

I ran Varsity Track and Field in high school and was primarily a sprinter (100m, 200m). I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it!

Short-Term Running Goals:

I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.

Long-Term Running Goals:

To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.

Personal:

I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride".

First day back at work at the Berkshire Center after the Holiday break. Booooo. Actually, it's not that bad - I'm excited to watch my students grow and progress through the semester. So, I got back tonight, stretched, and jumped on the elliptical. My injured ankle is a little swollen again, so I think I need to back off and ease back into running when it feels a bit better. I am going to elevate and ice it after I finish this entry.

I did 3 miles mostly at 6/10 resistance with a couple short (2-3 minute) intervals at 5/10 resistance to mix it up. Afterwards, I did my stretching routine and lifted free weights.

** I want to thank you all for welcoming me here with open arms. What I have learned from Benn and from your messages is that you are fun, friendly, and truly have each other's best interests at heart. Benn has been persuading me to join for quite a while, so I'm glad the time has come. Thanks all and thanks Benn! **

Hehe. Sorry if my "suggesting" has come off more forceful than helpful. I am so happy to have you on the FRB now!

What a great elliptical too my dear! We little gimpos will be slicing and dicing the mountains this summer! :)

Ohh and I love how you are the Gazelle now. Howling Commando < Gazelle. Man... IDEA?!?! A race in 2009.. Howling Commando versus the Gazelle. Who will win?! Dun DUN DUNNN!

Oh it is ON!

Oh yes it is! We will have to map this out. I am thinking we should have several different stages i.e. 1 on the Ashtuwillticook, another on a hilly terrain, maybe even Clapp park. It just wouldn't be fair if we only raced in the flatlands or savannah grasslands, as I'm sure the little jumping Gazelle would surely win! :-P

I HAVE A SURPRISE FOR YOU WHEN I SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND! :)

I can't wait to see how many icicles are in my beard after tomorrow's run! It's going to be super duper cold!
